This past week I returned home after a two week trip throughout Asia. It’s always a pleasure to return to Asia because the 21st Century is Asia’s Century and you really need to be on the ground and experiencing it first hand to truly grasp how fast and how far ahead life in Asia is. Just take a look at this fascinating graph which shows the truth:
During this trip, I had a the chance to visit China’s capital city Beijing on the most important day of the year. China’s National Day is October 1st and this year the country was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
During my visit to Tiananmen I was able to meet with a fellow YouTuber Li Jing Jing and record an interview right in the heart of the square surrounded by tens of thousands of Chinese people. Li Jing Jing was born in Hei Long Jiang, China’s Northeast province that borders Russia and moved to Beijing 13 years ago to pursue a career in journalism. She has visited every province in China and brings a very unique perspective to what life in China is really like.
This interview is unlike most interviews I’ve done before. I really wanted to connect with a local Chinese and give her the chance to share her story. Li Jing Jing is the perfect person for this interview. She speaks an incredible fluent level of English and is one of the most well traveled journalists in China.
You’ll hear her stories of growing up in China, studying abroad, personally witnessing China’s dramatic rise from a poor agrarian society into the world’s fastest growing economy and world superpower. We discuss the rise of pride amongst China’s youth and she shares her outlook on the complicated US/China relationship.
Overall this is one of my favorite videos I’ve ever produced on my YouTube channel and it’s with great pleasure that I share it with you all today! Let me know what you think and see everyone soon in our next newsletter.
