You know Cyrus, as the spy balloon situation was inflating in the news, I had hoped you wouldn't take your normal course of excusing anything wrong that China does (or has done), but my hope was dashed after receiving your newsletter. Yes, it is absurd that China would float a spy balloon over America, but they did just that. It doesn't matter whether it was collecting weather, geo or military data - the Chinese breached American airspace and should have issued immediate apologies and acted in a manner that showed they crossed a line. How would the Chinese react if an American "weather balloon" crossed into their airspace? As usual, the Chinese didn't act in any way remorseful. In fact, the Chinese government officials on Twitter posted snide comments that China "was giving the USA a balloon, like an adult would give to a child". Now is THAT diplomacy on China's part? No. It was an inappropriate, "in your face" remark about a situation that shouldn't have ever happened. Frankly speaking, you need to step away from your keyboard and take a good look at your commentary when it comes to China and the USA. Your bias is over the top and unless your bread is being buttered with RMB makes no sense for an American to consistently excuse the poor behavior of China while slapping the States at every move. Try not to let me down next time with your commentary. Please be MORE OBJECTIVE.

Also I've had a lot of supporters and fans ask for more thoughts...I wrote a Twitter thread which breaks down my latest thoughts: https://twitter.com/thecyrusjanssen/status/1622265535689003008?s=20&t=FWUZVQZZHJmvnPqg4tkxIg

Thanks for the comment...actually if you watch my most recent livestream https://youtube.com/live/f4QrkGYAoxI

I discuss things in more detail. The video is long so let me break down my exact points:

1. If this was indeed a weather balloon, the Chinese authorities should have contacted US government beforehand to make sure this wouldn't blow up into anything

2. The Chinese invaded US airspace, if it was the other way around, China would absolutely be outraged

3. Every country has territorial sovereignty and China must respect US airspace and same the other way.

I woke up this morning and say China's most recent statements that they feel the US overreacted and broke international airspace regulations by shooting the balloon down. To be honest that statement is beyond stupid and I completely disagree.

In conclusion, I think we are more similar in our feelings on that. My disappointment is that Blinkin canceled his trip. I want to see more engagement between US/China and this would have been a perfect opportunity to discuss in more details.

Appreciate your comment, and hope this response clarifies my position.

I think you are out to lunch on this one.

It seems to me that China's ill timed, provacative, rude balloon, is just another example of China's unwitting policy towards the USA
